Naturalstone coverings need DNS. The natural stone protective systems for competent treatment and perfect maintenance.

DNS-systems are, right from the outset, ideally suited to anybody wanting the pleasure of a naturalstone covering as well as permanent preservation of the original natural beauty of the stone. To start with, the optimum laying conditions are achieved with DNS, as any and all possible defects and damage may be avoided by using DNS.

DNS-systems also prove effective on coverings which in the past have been treated either erroneously or not at all, as these systems have been tried and tested and proved efficient for a wide variety of both professional and general applications in the field of restoration and maintenance.

DNS - unequalled and professional.

Avoiding risks
G-812 Humidity detector

The risk can be pinpointed exactly by determining the moist areas in the substrate and any provisos be made when necessary.
Preventing jobsite damage
S-240 Protection film

Before grouting, even polished marble can be protected by a film against grout residue and other kinds of dirt due to construction work. Slight scratches can be avoided.
Deep scratches and "thoroughfares" can only be avoided using H-850 covering boards.
Surface cleaning
R-255 Basic cleaner

The basic marble cleaner (acidfree) is used to remove tenacious construction dirt, light wax coats, paint spots and light grout film residue from marble and other natural stone areas, without damaging the polish.
Preventing stains
I-234 Stain stop

Deep penetration of liquids is impeded by this oil and water repellent impregnation, so that any stains will only form on the surface and be easily removed. Deep acid burns
due to fruit juice can thus be avoided.
An I-234 impregnation enhances the "elasticity" of the stone surface, thus preventing premature appearance of "thoroughfares". Maintenance is considerably improved, particularly on rough surfaces.
Preserving gloss
P-224 Stone Care

This special natural stone maintenance product is ideally suited to long term preservation of gloss and largely avoids "thoroughfares".
Affording protection
P-223 Marble polish

For marble floors with heavy traffic, the alternate use of P-223 Marble polish (once as needed) and P-224 Stone maintenance (four times) is recommended, in order to produce a light protective film which will not become a thick dirty coat.

If your customer does not want to apply DNS Natural Stone Protective Systems, you may point out, if there should be a claim, that the damage could have been avoided by applying DNS-Systems and that you had before explained the reasons for limiting your responsibility!

MARBLE - Protective system

Formulating the problems

Owing to faulty planning, marble is often used in areas where it becomes unsightly in a short space of time due to heavy traffic.
Errors made during installation will soon reveal damage which is difficult to eliminate.
Carelessness and insufficient protection lead to stains.
Marble is damaged by using the wrong maintenance products.

Therefore :

1. Avoid the risk
G-812 Humidity detector

The moisture content of the substrate has to be measured in order to assess the risk. After installation, leave joints open for approx. 10-24 days and turn off floor heating before each treatment.
2. Jobsite
S 240 Protective film

40 ml/m2. To protect the surface from dirt and slight scratches during construction work, a protective film should be applied before grouting. This prevents the grouting material adhering to the stone surface. Place H-850 covering boards on "thoroughfares"!
3. Cleaning
R 255 Basic cleaner

70 ml/m2. Remove protective film and dirt before using the premises.
4. Protection
I 234 Stain stop

120 ml/m2. Carry out oil and water repellent impregnation against deep penetration of liquids. Check moisture content of substrate (< 3 %). I 234 Stain stop reduces abrasion and improves the maintenance capacity.
After drying of the solvents, the impregnation layer is physiologically harmless.
5. Maintenance
P 224 Stone care & P 223 Marble polish

To preserve the natural surface. Cleaning product for heavy traffic.

SANDSTONE - Protective system

Formulating the problems

Sandstone becomes prematurely dirty owing to its high porosity and water absorption capacity, the stone surface is thus strongly affected by an agressive environment.
In foundations, the stone can be affected by de-icing salt.
Sandstone floors are difficult to keep clean.

Therefore:

1. Avoid risks
G-812 Humidity detector

The moisture content of the substrate has to be measured in order to assess the risk. If necessary, drain foundation.
2. Cleaning
R-267 Sandstone cleaner

40 ml/m2. Only to be used when strictly necessary. - To be applied with great care!
3. Hardness
S-241 Sandstone hardener

500 ml/m2. Stones which are already morbid on the surface but do not need to be replaced, have to be hardened in order to apply additional mortar or stone material.
Hardener to be applied using a G-805 Impregnation pump. Hardened surfaces have to be impregnated before the next frost period !
4. Stone
H-990 Stone mortar

Repairs should be carried out with soft Epoxy-bonded Stone mortar. Wherever sandstones are severely damaged, this highly weather resisting stone mortar should be used as a substitute for sandstone !
5. Protection
I-231 Sandstone impregnation

400 ml/m2. Carry out water repellent impregnation against penetration of water and dirt. Particularly effective against premature surface destruction and for long term protection of sandstone facades. To be applied with G-805 impregnation pump.

GRANITE - Protective system

Formulating the problems

Spilling of liquids can cause dark stains, particularly on light colored and pale granite. Owing to the high density of the stone, granite can absorb liquids, but expels them only very slowly.

Therefore:
1. Avoid risks
G-812 Humidity detector

The moisture content of the substrate has to be measured in order to assess the risk. After installation, leave joints open for approx. 10-24 days and turn off floor heating before each treatment.
2. Jobsite

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Any natural stone areas

To avoid wear of thoroughfares, the natural stone surface must remain "elastic".
Applying aggressive maintenance products "leaches" the marble surface. The use of soft soap is often insufficient to clean the natural stone surface properly. Sometimes it also "leaches" the surface or leaves a thick film of dirt.
DNS P-224 Stone care is the ideal cleaning product for natural stone surfaces!
20 g of P-224 Stone care added to approx. 8 liter cleansing water are sufficient to obtain an optimal cleaning effect.
This quantity may be reduced further in case of only slightly soiled floors.
Application of this natural stone care product is entirely in accordance with environmental concerns and safety standards: in concentrate form for dilution; easy bio-degradability; skin protection; slip resistant.
Rough natural stone surfaces

1. Cleansing water solution: Add approx. 20 g of P-224 Stone care to 8 liter water. In case of only slight soiling, the quantity added may be reduced further.
2. Use soft brushes on the machine.
3. Pour the cleansing water solution onto the floor.
4. Scrub thoroughly with a single disk machine
5. Vacuum up the dirty water.
Any other cleaning method will lead to accumulation of dirt in the deep pores and the long term result will be unsatisfactory !
Heavy traffic marble floors and concrete stone floors (terrazzo)

Ordinary cleaning:
Cleansing water solution : add approx. 20 g of P-224 Stone care to 8 liter water. In case of slightly dirty floors, the quantity added can be reduced.
Once or twice a month (as required):
Cleansing water solution: add approx. 150 g P-223 Marble polish to 8 liter water.
Due to this alternate cleaning, the surface will be protected by P 223 against heavy mechanical abrasion, whereas at the same time the principal application of P-224 will prevent the protective coating from becoming too thick so it will only have to be removed with the basic cleaner now and then.
