I-234   S T A I N - S T O P

Brief instructions :
                                  01.01.10
Cut off floor heating the day before treatment !
Clean the area and make sure it is dry! Measure the moisture content (<2,0%)!
1.) Apply Stain Stop until saturation in several layers if necessary.
2.) Leave it to react for approx. 15 - 30 min.
3.) Remove the product thoroughly with a dry cloth while still wet.

Features :
I-234 Stain Stop Impregnation will prevent liquids from penetrating immediately (after approx. 30 - 60 min.) into the natural stone, damaging there the substance of the stone. This impregnation product has a water repellent effect. If applied on highly absorbent stone areas, we recommend applying liquid P-211 Stone Polish after impregnation in order to further improve protection against stains.

Fruit acids from juices and alcohols, if left to prolonged affect, will generate dull spots on the polish of marble floors despite impregnation, but this type of damage is limited to the surface and cannot penetrate deeper. Impregnated areas can therefore be more easily repolished.

Complete protection against stains is impossible, as no layer is being applied on the stone.

Conditions for use :
Expansion joints should be sealed.
The areas should be cleaned with R-255 Basic Cleaner before any impregnation, in order both to remove wax residues or construction dirt frequently found on natural stone floors and impurities and to open the pores of the stone. Impregnation can be started once the areas are dry (approx. two days after cleaning).
To carry out this work, use shoes with solvent-resistant soles, to step on the impregnated areas.

Natural stone areas should not be warm, to avoid too rapid evaporation of the impregnation product and to let it penetrate into the stone.
The moisture content of the stone should be <2,0 %.

Application on smooth areas :
Pour out the impregnation product on the floor and apply it evenly on the whole surface using a large paintbrush (Z-855 Wiping Brush). More product may be added, if it is completely absorbed by the natural stone, until saturation and product residues are seen on the surface.

During reaction time (approx. 15-30 min.) evenly distribute I-234 Stain Stop several times over the surface. Then remove excess impregnation still remaining on the surface using a rubber scraper, (on areas within reach of hand, without walking on them) and mop clean with a dry towelling cloth (absorbent paper is preferable), until nothing is left on the surface.

If the impregnation product has dried on the surface, it is possible to treat the area once again and wipe it clean.

Data after curing :
Water vapour diffusion capacity of the stone approx. 85 %.
It is possible to walk in stockings on the treated areas approx. 30 min. after wiping. (Rubber soles could leave marks !) About 1 hour after impregnation, the area may shortly be charged with liquids.
Unrestricted use of the area is possible approx. 24 hours after application of the product.

Defaults after application :
Should the natural stone surfaces show dark spots or stripes after impregnation, this is due
1.) either to an area not completely dry before treatment
2.) or to an uneven and insufficient application of the impregnation product !
Should the surfaces look mat, sticky and unpleasant, then they have been insufficiently wiped!

Indications :
As long as the recommendations given above are taken into account, there will appear no change on the natural stone surface after treatment, except for a slightly darker colouring, which will however lighten again (sometimes after several days only) after complete curing of the impregnation product.

Proper cleaning of areas using P-224 Stone Care added to the cleaning water will considerably contribute to maintain a protected natural stone surface and may possibly avoid another heavy treatment.

Protection at work :     environmental protection :
The product contains solvents causing temporary giddiness when inhaled, it is therefore recommended to wear a gasmask when working in closed premises.

Small residual quantities left in the tin containers may be left to dry in; the solid content is then disposable via the household refuse. The tin containers are brought to recycling units.
After drying of the solvents, the impregnation layer is physiologically harmless! It is therefore also suitable for surfaces such as kitchen table-tops for instance.
